Chester Confalone

Chester J . Confalone of Wakefield passed away at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family on November 15, 2019.

He was born on March 27, 1930 to the late Chester and Mary Confalone of Wakefield. He attended St. Joseph's School and was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1947. He was also a proud member of the U.S. Army.

Chet was a brick mason by trade and worked for many years in construction with his brothers ( Confalone Brothers) building many homes in the Wakefield area. Later in life he worked as the Superintendent of the Water Department for the Town of Wakefield and as a teacher at the Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School teaching classes in masonry.

Chet was a mentor to many and loved to share his deepest passion of hunting and fishing. During the spring and summer months, one could always find Chet on local streams and rivers fly-fishing for trout. In the autumn he would be in the woods with his prized bird dogs hunting quail, pheasant and partridge. Chet was a life member of the Reading Rifle and Revolver Club. Here he spent the off-season shooting skeet and socializing with friends.

Chet was also an avid gardener and was particularly proud of his abundant crops of tomatoes, cucumbers, and summer squash. All of which he routinely shared with his friends and family.

Above all Chet treasured his time with loved ones. He was a proud father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed time spent laughing and joking with his grandchildren and gathering together with family during the holidays.

Chet is survived by his loving wife Martha G. Confalone and his three children: Gary C. Confalone and his wife Deborah of Rowley, his daughter Lisa M. Altieri and her husband John of Reading, and his son Frederick P. Confalone of Lawrence. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Abigail and Luke Confalone of Rowley, his sister Mary E. Giglio of Wakefield, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chet was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Samuel, Joseph, John, and his sister Julia Confalone .

His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
