Chester Davis

Chester R. Davis, 80, of Nashua, New Hampshire formerly of Wakefield died on Thursday, May 16 at The Arbors of Bedford in Bedford, New Hampshire.

Born in Salem on September 21, 1932 he was the son of the late Chester R. and Esther B. (Grant) Davis.

Mr. Davis was a graduate of Ipswich High School, Salem State College and had received his Master's Degree from Boston College in Mathematics. He was the retired Head of Mathematics at Wakefield High School and Belmont High School. Mr. Davis was a member of the Wakefield Municipal Commissioners and the Wakefield Elks. Mr. Davis was a Korean War Navy Veteran.

He was the husband of the late Margaret E. (Merry) Davis. Mr. Davis is survived by his four children; Lee Ann Mercando and her husband Dr. Anthony Mercando of Bronxville, New York, Chester R. Davis and his wife Debbie of Bend, Oregon, Mary E. Rhodes and her husband Brian of Nashua, New Hampshire and Stephen P. Davis and his wife Nancy of Danvers, his brother Phillip Davis of Florida and his sister Susan Carpenter of Texas. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and a great grandchild.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-4pm. Interment will be at Cowles Memorial Cemetery in Ipswich.
