Chester Black

Chester G . Black , 84, a Lynnfield resident for 43 years died on Sunday, June 13, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Melrose on August 31, 1925 he was the son of the late Ira and Flora (Thorne) Black .

Chester was a graduate of Havelock High School in New Brunswick, Canada where he graduated as the class Valedictorian. He went on to graduate from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and did post grad work at MIT. He retired from HNTB Consulting Engineers. Chester was also an avid hunter and member of the Lynnfield Masonic Lodge and a life time member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club.

Chester was the husband of Aleta (Cail) Black for 63 years. He was the father of Brian L. Black and his wife Deepa of Coppell, TX, Jane A. Proia and her husband Joseph of Uxbridge and Keith G . Black and his wife Sharon of Methuen. He is also survived by his brothers Leighton Black of Woburn and Forrester Black of Canada, and his sisters Joan Tait and Gloria Steeves of Canada. He was also a grandfather to Nolan, Elizabeth, James, Kyle, Dylan, and Harrison and he was the dear friend of Marc Richard of Uxbridge.

A funeral will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Thursday from 4 until 8 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
