Chester M. Thurston, 70, of Wakefield died May 24 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Everett on October 3, 1942 he was the son of the late Chester M. and Ruth (Merrill) Thurston.
Chester was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1959. He attended Northeastern University. He worked for the Wakefield and Reading Police Departments. Chester is the retired owner of B&D Shell on Vernon St. in Wakefield. He was an enthusiast of motorcycles, NASCAR and Boston sports.
He was the devoted husband of Margaret B (McManuis). He was the father of Brian Thurston of Wilmington, Tammy Page and husband Mark of Wakefield. He was the brother of Richard Thurston of NH and Lorraine Silva of Florida. He was the grandfather of Amanda, Allison and Cameron and great grandfather of Sydnie.
Services were private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
