Christina B . Cooper , 89, a former resident of both Hingham and Wakefield, died Sunday, November 24 at Brooksby Village in Peabody.

Born in Newton on August 26, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Myrtle E. (Currie) Thompson.

Mrs. Cooper grew up in Brookline and was educated in the Brookline school system, graduating from the High School in 1941. After which, she spent 22 years as an Army wife with her first husband, the late Major, James F. Quigley, USA (Ret). She later married the late Edwin Cooper .

Mrs. Cooper had served as the Executive Director of the Hingham Chapter of the American Red Cross for 15 years and retired in 1981. When she moved to Wakefield, Mrs. Cooper became very active in the First Baptist Church and was one of the three founding members of the Interfaith Food Pantry in Wakefield.

In addition to being a beloved wife, she was the loving mother of Barbara J. Cross and husband Robert of Methuen, Christina E. Marquis and husband Scott of Orlando, FL, Robert Cooper and wife Phyllis of Lynnfield, Jack Cooper and wife Carol of Billerica, Donald Cooper and wife Kathy of Reading, Michael Cooper and wife Kelli of NH and the late James F. Quigley, Jr. and Edwin Cooper . She was the sister of Thelma Cooper of FL, Norma J. Studley of Woburn and the late Mildred McGuigan and Ethel Cooper . She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Her funeral service in the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield, on Saturday at 11:00. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 9am.
