Clarence H. "Rocky" Stone, 89, a seven year resident of Beverly and formerly of Lynnfield, died on Sunday, October 12 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Lynn on March 18, 1919, he was the son of the late Clarence H. and Helen (Hammond) Stone.
Mr. Stone was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1937. He had served in the United States Coast Guard where his career took him all over the world transporting troops during World War II. He spent 68 years in Lynnfield, where he worked as a Steward at the Colonial Country Club.
Mr. Stone was a member of the Centre Congregational Church in Wakefield and also the American Legion in Lynnfield. After losing Helen, his beloved wife, he enjoyed his final years at Landmark at Oceanview with new friends, and was known by his disposition and sense of humor. Mr. Stone could trace his lineage back to the Mayflower.
He was the husband of the late Helen R. (Richards) Stone. He is survived by his son, Richard H. Stone and his wife Kim of Beverly and his grandson, Zachary Stone. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Stone of Wilmington. Mr. Stone was predeceased by his brother, Donald Stone and sister, Phyllis Page.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Beverly on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St, Danvers, MA 01923.
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
