Collette MacKenzie

Collette M. MacKenzie, 86, of Reading formerly of Wakefield died Saturday, July 9 at the Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Born in Dublin, Ireland on December 7, 1924 she was the daughter of the late John and Georgina (Hurlbutt) Reynolds.

Mrs. MacKenzie moved to the US at the age of 21 and had served in The British Air Force during WWII. She had lived in Wakefield for more than 40 years and was an active member of St. Joseph Church. Mrs. MacKenzie was a retired secretary from the Wakefield Public Schools and had worked at the Woodville Elementary School. She enjoyed playing bridge.

Mrs. MacKenzie was the wife of the late John MacKenzie. She was the mother of John MacKenzie of VT, Brendan MacKenzie of Bradford, Karen MacKenzie of CA, Jaimee M. Vasallo and her husband John of Wilmington and Audrey Hamilton and her husband John of Andover. She was the sister of Robert Reynolds of CA, Gloria Ireland of England, Francis Hurlbutt and Lucille Hartling both of CT and the late Joyce Cooper, Annette Rands and Jack and Gerard Reynolds. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren.

A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday beginning at 9am to be followed by a funeral mass in the St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30.
