Daniel F. Gamache

Daniel Francis Gamache, 51, formerly of Walpole and Lynnfield, passed away on September 25, 2024 from a medical event related to his diabetes. Dan was the loving father to Amber and Ava of Lynnfield. He was the beloved son of George (deceased) and Mary Ellen Gamache.

Dan was raised in Walpole, MA where he spent most of his time competing on sports fields and sharing laughs with teammates. During the summers he could be found at Restaino Field with his brother Andrew and his father. In the fall he was on the football field with his Pop Warner teammates; many of whom he continued to play with at Walpole High School as a “Rebel.” Dan was a member of the 1989 high school Superbowl championship team led by Coach Lee. After graduating from Walpole in 1991, Dan continued his education and football career at Stonehill College, where he received All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference honors, was named ECFC Lineman of the Year as a junior and served as captain his senior year. Dan had the honor of being inducted into Stonehill’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. He continued his athletic enjoyment later in life as a member of the Lynnfield Men’s Softball League, where he scored the walk off homerun to secure the 2024 Championship.

Dan considered his greatest achievement to be the proud and present father to his beautiful daughters, Amber and Ava. He showed up in the best and most loving way for his two different girls. For the athletic star Ava, he was a champion on the field, and was on the sidelines supporting and coaching her soccer, softball, and basketball success. For the kind-hearted Amber, he was present and emotionally supportive, talking and reflecting for hours about what was going on in Amber’s growing world.

He enjoyed time with his girls on road trips for tournaments, annual visits to Aruba, and happy vacations. Always up for playing, he was by their side in the front row on any roller coaster or water park ride - his warm laughter accompanying his daughters' shrieks of delight, just as he was by their side and in the front row for any adventure their full lives presented. The week before he passed away, he had gone on a road trip to be with Ava in Pennsylvania where she is attending Bucknell, and then drove to Florida to be with Amber where she is attending Lynn University.

Dan most recently worked for East Street Capital as a Senior Wholesale Account Executive. A colleague described him as a “fun-loving, charismatic, and just overall great guy.” Dan worked in the mortgage industry for nearly 30 years.

Nicknamed “Goot” in high school, Dan was a loyal friend to many and shared countless laughs and memories with groups of friends from childhood, college, and into adulthood. Although Dan moved away, his Walpole roots, friendships, and family remained a big part of who he was. He built a full life in Lynnfield and was blessed to have raised his girls there. He had a smile that lit up any room and his laughter made every story better. He will be missed by many.

Dan is survived by his daughters Amber and Ava and by their mother, Laura Pizzuti of Lynnfield, whom he was married to for 23 years.

Dan was the cherished son of Mary Ellen Gamache (MacFarlane) and the late George Gamache. Beloved brother of Andrew Gamache and wife Molly of Natick, Anne Finnegan and husband Dave of Richmond, VA, and Mary Abplanalp and husband Jon of Walpole. He was a loving uncle to Timothy, William, Nicholas, Grace, Sam, and Tommy; and on the Pizzuti side of his family he was a favorite uncle to Laura, Julia, Jenna, Christina, Ashley, Johnny, Sienna and Xander; all of whom he loved dearly. Dan was nephew to Elizabeth Gamache of Worcester, William and Susan Gamache of Concord, NH, Anne and Don Albino of Atlanta, GA and Janet MacFarlane of Dartmouth, MA.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Dan’s life at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA on Friday, October 4 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption, 758 Salem Street, Lynnfield, MA on Saturday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
