David Morton Iii

David F . Morton , III , 90, a life long resident of Stoneham, died on Wednesday, March 10 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Boston on October 14, 1919 he was the son of the late David F . and Ethel (MacMillan) Morton .

Mr. Morton was a graduate of Stoneham High School and Bentley College. He was part owner of the former Morton & Welch Engineering. He was also an accountant and comptroller for several major construction companies in the Boston area.

Mr. Morton was active in the race car driving industry and was recognized as an expert in carburetors and flat top engines for race cars. He was a promoter of the Westborough Speedway, Brookline Speedway in NH and the Thompson Speedway in Thompson, Ct. Mr. Morton had been a foster father for many children over 40 years.

Mr. Morton was the husband of Charlotte E. (Roberts) Morton . He was the father of Pamela Morton Blaquiere of Groveland, Cheryl M. Kline of Stoneham, Barbara Morton Robinson of Windham, NH and Christian Alexander of Reading. He was the grandfather of David , Amanda & Sabrina Blaquiere and Zachary & Joshua Kline and great grandfather of Alexandra, Ethan & Tristan.

Funeral services were private. Interment was at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.

Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, Stoneham.
