David J. Merry, age 68, of Westford, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 22 at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill.
He was born in Melrose on January 25, 1955, to the late William Merry and Ann (Worthley) Merry Orifice.
Dave was foremost a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather; Family meant the world to him. He had a long and impactful career in the private sector and was always there to support and grow the people around him. Throughout his years of service, he was found to be the voice of reason and one to call on. He was well-known for his eccentric and charismatic ways, as well; Whether working, visiting Foxwoods, or swimming with loons, he always made a lasting impression. Additionally, Dave provided support for numerous people from all walks of life, furthering the legacy left by his mother Ann, and sister Sharon. If you were a loved one, co-worker, or stranger in need, Dave was always ready and willing to help in any way possible. He truly found joy in seeing people happy, and his passing is a loss for all who knew him.
He was the loving father of Jacqueline Stout and her husband Jeremy of Grantham, NH, and David and his wife Madison of Westford, and grandfather of Hannah Merry. He was the beloved brother of Bruce Merry and his wife Eileen of Rockport, Susan Merry of Wakefield, John Merry and his wife Cecilia of Westford, and the late Sharon Giunta of Chester, NH. He is also survived by his former spouse and dear friend Kathleen Merry of Westford, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be private and are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor his memory can be made to the Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson – Bethke Location, 131 Old Rd to 9 Acre Corner, Concord, MA 01742.
