DEAN H . PHILBRICK, born September 17, 1931, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, Massachusetts, died on February 20, 2015 at the age of 83. He was the son of Arthur A. Philbrick and Ina Pearl Hartshorn of Wakefield and the brother of the late Burton P. Philbrick . He is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara (Walsh). They are the parents of four children: Susan Celikmen of North Andover; Donna Ward of Seabrook, NH; Karen Philbrick-Duffy of Lynnfield and the late Dean Paul Philbrick . They are also the proud grandparents of Cassidy Ward and Adam Celikmen.
Dean grew up on Spaulding Street next to Lake Quannapowitt and spent many enjoyable times at Hills Boathouse. He attended the Wakefield school system and entered the U.S. Army at the early age of seventeen. He then went to Coyne Electrical School and eventually became sole-owner for over 45 years of Philbrick Electric, his own successful electrical business in Wakefield.
During his retirement years Dean was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed breakfasting with friends at Wakefield's North Avenue Diner to share stories. He also liked gardening, raising of a variety of blueberries. Family and friends recall vividly Dean's proud "invites" for blueberry picking in his backyard. Dean will be missed by all for his vast electrical knowledge, his unique sense of humor and his overall practical wisdom.
Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home. Interment took place at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
