Dennis A. White, 97, of Pelham, New Hampshire formerly of Wakefield and Royersford, Pennsylvania died on Monday, April 11 at the Epsom Health Care Center.
Born in Wakefield on December 15, 1918 he was the son of the late Dennis R. and Mary R. (DeVeau) White.
Mr. White was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1935. He was a retired letter carrier for the Wakefield Post Office and had also worked as an usher at the Boston Garden. Mr. White had served in the United States Army during World War II in the southwest pacific. He was awarded a purple heart for wounds sustained plus a bronze star medal for meritorious service in combat. He was a member of the D.A.V. Mr. White had lived in Royersford, Pennsylvania from 1985-2015 before moving to Pelham, New Hampshire.
He was the husband of the late Fanny K. (Kimmage) White whom he shared over 70 years of marriage, father of the late Dennis M. White and brother of the late Frances Ewing, Margaret Webb, Harold White and Alice Johnson. Mr. White is also survived by his granddaughter Jennifer A. Santosuosso and her husband Mark of Pelham, New Hampshire, his two great grandchildren Dylan and Matthew Santosuosso and his brother Richard Doucette of Peabody.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Friday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the Mass starting at 8:30am. Interment will be at Lakeisde Cemetery in Wakefield.
