Dolores T. DeVeau, age 87, a former Wakefield resident, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. 

Born in Somerville on November 20, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lionel and Josephine (Rapoza) Moreira. Dolores spent her formative years in Cambridge, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Later, she moved to Wakefield in her early high school years and graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 1955. Soon after she started her family and dedicated her life to raising her five children in Wakefield.

Dolores had an eye for fashion and always enjoyed shopping adventures with her best friends. She loved day trips around New England. With a special affinity for Rockport, MA and York Beach, ME. She always had fun visiting local casinos and traveling when she got the chance. Dolores was known for her open door, generous spirit, and bright smile that touched many hearts.

She was the loving mother of Barbara Babikian and her husband Bob of Tewksbury, Tom DeVeau and his partner Shannon of New Hampshire, Michele Fucile and her husband Domenic of Billerica, David DeVeau and his wife Dawn of Tewksbury, and Denise Meehan and her husband Jim of Beverly. Sister-in-Law to Geraldin Mark of Reno, NV. She was the sister of the late Lorraine Herwick. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tommy, Jimmy, Nicholas, John, Erika, Justin and Joey. Three great grandchildren, Adam, Ashlynn and Trevor and her cherished nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, January 27 from 4-7PM. 

Funeral Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
