Dolores C. Samowski, 73, of Melrose, formerly of Wakefield, died suddenly on Monday, March 29 at her home.
Born in Wakefield on November 8, 1936 she was the daughter of the late John J. and Marion (Hart) Roach.
Mrs. Samowski graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1950 and from Wakefield High School, class of 1954. Prior to her retirement she was employed by John Hancock Insurance Co. and the American Crane Company.
Mrs. Samowski was the loving wife of the late Richard J. Samowski. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Roach of Wakefield and Barbara (Roach) Cramb of New Smyrna Beach, FL, two step-children, Heather Ganley of Groton and Kurt Samowski of Braintree and 17 nieces and nephews, of which two loving nieces Carol (Prentice) Farr of Melrose and Carolyn (Cramb) Shope of TN did so many things for their "Auntie Dodo". She also leaves step-grandchildren. Mrs. Samowski was predeceased by one brother, John J. Roach, Jr. of Lynn and two sisters, Anne Baker of Ashland and June Prentice of Melrose.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Monday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Interment, Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
