Domenico T . Grande , age 82, a longtime Wakefield resident, passed away Wednesday, November 23 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Andali (Catanzaro) Italy on February 4, 1940, he was the son of Francesco and Maria (Ambrosi) Grande .
Domenico arrived in the United States in 1957 at the age of 17 where he met and married the love of his life, Elisa (Pasquariello) in 1961.
Domenico served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud Army Veteran. He worked at Palmer Mfg, Co. in Malden for 45 years as a Quality Control Inspector.
He was an avid runner who ran countless miles around Lake Quannapowitt and was passionate about his vegetable garden and landscaping.
Domenico had a strong faith and was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church where he volunteered as an usher and CCD teacher. He was also a member of the Crystal Community Club and The Sons of Italy.
He is remembered by family and friends as a man of generosity, kindness and humor. He was the beloved husband of Elisa (Pasquariello) Grande with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Annamaria ( Grande ) Buggy and her husband Timothy of North Kingstown, RI and Jeannette ( Grande ) Cook and her husband James of Phoenixville, PA. He was the cherished Nonno of Brianna (Buggy) McIntosh and her husband William, Nicholas and Michaela Buggy and Cameron and Audra Cook.
He was the brother of Rosa Grande and Giglia Grande-Cristiano of Italy. Antonio Grande of Billerica and Anita Grande-Cerviani of North Carolina. He is predeceased by his sisters Elena Grande-Guatieri and Silvia Grande-Gentile of Italy. He is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Saturday December 3 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, December 2 from 4-7 pm.
In keeping with Domenico's generosity, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, www.michealjfox.org, or a charity of your choice.
