Donald Bennett

Donald F . Bennett , 80, of Stoneham, died at his home Thursday Aug. 20.

Born in Wakefield on February 7, 1929 he was the son of the late Elmer & Jennie (LeBlanc) Bennett . Mr. Bennett was raised in Wakefield and had been a long time Stoneham resident. Mr. Bennett was a career Military Officer and retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years with the Rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He had served in Korea. Mr. Bennett was later employed with Wakefield Engineering and later retired for the Town of Stoneham where he worked for many years at the town library. He was a member of St. Patrick Parish, the V.F.W and the N.R.A.

He is survived by his wife Mildred R. (Cotreau). He was the father of Linda M. Salonen and Steven D. & James B. Bennett all of NH and Elaine D. Dreyfus of CA. He was the brother of George, Richard & Robert Bennett and Helen McQuarrie and the late Nelson, Thomas, Edith, Helen, Mae, Bernice, Tina and Irene. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral from the McDonald -Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham Thursday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10:00. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4-8 PM. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
