Doris Parsons, age 97, a longtime resident of Stoneham died Friday, October 18, at Sunrise of Lynnfield.
Born in Dracut, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Hesson) Drury.
Doris was a graduate of Dracut High School class of 1944. She was a member of the American Legion-Women’s Auxiliary. Doris was a talented Seamstress and would often make clothes for her family. She certainly knew her way around the kitchen, she was a great cook and especially loved to bake cookies. She worked many years as a cafeteria worker for both the Stoneham Junior High and High Schools and was always known for getting after her own children to eat their lunch! Doris was a Bingo enthusiast and would often run the Bingo at the Stoneham and Wakefield Senior Centers.
Doris was the beloved wife of the late George Parsons. She was the loving mother of Robert Parsons of Lynnfield, and Judiann Parsons and her husband Jim Rees of Woburn. She was the sister of Betty Asseline of Florida and New Hampshire and the late Geraldine Trudel of Pelham, NH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Her funeral service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Saturday, November 2 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 9-11am.
Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
