Dorothea L . Rourke-O'Regan born August 26th, 1940 of Lowell, formerly of Stoneham, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family on Monday, May 9th at age 81.

She was the daughter of George A. and Dora E. (Maguire) Rourke. Dorothea was predeceased by both of her children, James "Shamus" O'Regan of Stoneham and Doreen Maria O'Regan Barrasso of Melrose, and by Shamus' daughter, Melissa Longo Moynihan of Ayer. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine "Sally" Regan of Leominster and her brother George "Larry" Rourke of Lowell.

Dorothea graduated from The University of Lowell Massachusetts in 1976 with Magna Cum Laude degrees in Mathematics, Psychology and Secondary Education. In her early career she was employed by Raytheon as an engineering assistant. Later, she became a hospital-trained & Certified Hypnotherapist and maintained her membership of The American Board of Hypnotherapy. In addition, she was a Certified Reiki Master and owned a private business, Focus on You Consulting, offering therapeutic counseling to all ages since 2000.

Dorothea was an active member and co-host of the Howard Porter Art & Poetry Group which produced several shows each year through Stoneham TV. She was also affiliated with another Stoneham TV show, The Total Woman, as a staff member and a repeatedly interviewed guest.

Dorothea was a professional dance instructor and dedicated performer in the Middle Eastern Dance community. Sharing her passion for the art and joy of belly dance she formed a professional dance troupe "Chakra Middle Eastern Dancers". She perfomed at the Rakkasah Dance Conventions in California and New Jersey from 1986 through the last one in 2018.

Dorothea is survived by her 4 grandchildren and her 7 great-grandchildren:
Doreen's children: Daniel O'Regan and his wife Leigh, of New York City, Santino Luigi Barrasso, Angelina Maria Barrasso and spouse Michael DiGregorio and their 4 children, Luigi, Luca, Lorenzo and Lucia Maria also granddaughter Cassandra Maria Barrasso all of Revere. Shamus's grandchildren: Savannah Moynihan, Mikayla Moynihan and Shamus Longo.

Dorothea is also survived by her two brothers, James "Jim" Michael Rourke of Townsend, MA and Robert "Bob/Bill" William Rourke of Nashua, NH and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dorothea was forever active in the lives of her family which brought her unmeasurable love, joy and treasured memories.

A Graveside Service and celebration of life will be held at the Lindenwood Cemetery on Montvale Ave in Stoneham on Saturday, August 27th 2022 (Dorothea's birthday weekend) at 11:00 a.m.

Services are in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham.
