Dorothy F . "Dottie" Scheri , 97, a life long resident of Wakefield died on Monday, February 22 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Wakefield on December 9, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Deveau and Grace M. (Muse) Deveau Melanson.

Mrs. Scheri was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She was a former employee of Paul K.Guillow Inc. and Palmer Electric. She was also a member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield.

Mrs. Scheri was the wife of the late Anthony Scheri . She was the mother of Reverend Randall Scheri and his wife Reverend Krisann Byrne-Scheri of Concord, NH, Richard Scheri and his wife Lillian of Amesbury, Alan Scheri and his wife Donna of Lynn, Phyllis Cooper and her husband Robert of Lynnfield, Marie Kantzer and her husband John of Peoria, AZ, Robert Scheri of Salem and the late Ronald and James Scheri . She was the sister of Richard Melanson of Peabody and the late Grace Malonson, Mabel Melanson and George Deveau. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
