Dorothy Longo

Dorothy C. Longo, 76, of Wakefield, MA, died on Wednesday, October 22 at Harborside Healthcare of Bedford, NH after a brief illness.

Born in Everett, MA on August 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Christina (Jenkins) Rivers.

Dorothy grew up in Everett, MA along with her nine brothers and one sister. She married the late John J. Longo and spent most of her life living in Wakefield where she raised her family.

For the past several years Dorothy lived with her daughter Karen and her family in Merrimack, NH where she led a very active, healthy and happy life. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening and puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her 5 children, John J. Jr. of Revere, Karen Parsons and her husband Stephen of Merrimack, NH, Stephen of Raymond NH, Joanne of Wakefield and Michael and his wife Amy of Haverhill. She has 14 grandchildren Joseph, Joshua, Anna, Stephen Jr., Matthew and Nicole Parsons, Renee Carbone, Jessica Benoit, Amanda, Alex, Abby, Matthew Melony and Emma Longo and one great grandchild, Ray. She is also survived by her 3 brothers, Buddy Rivers of AZ, Arthur Rivers and his wife Barbara of Malden, MA and Kenneth Rivers and his wife Betty of FL, her sister-in-law, Marilyn Barrett and her husband Christopher of Wakefield and brother-in-law, Tony and Josephine Longo of FL.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery, Lowell St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4 to 8 PM.
