Born April 28, 1915 in Wakefield, MA she was the daughter of Henry F.

Piano family) and Edith Proctor

.
She was married for 70 years to the late Jack E.
Henderson
. She is survived by one son, Jack E.
Henderson
, Jr. of Falmouth, MA and a sister Edith M. Coflan of Wakefield, MA; grandchildren Stacy Leafsong of Lincoln, VT and Peter M.
Henderson
of Centerville, MA; two great-granddaughters Sage and Tuala and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James O.
Henderson
. She attended Boston Latin, and in 1937 graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Home Economics. She was a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Sorority, active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Pilgrim John Howland Society, the New England Historic Genealogical Society and Brewster Garden Club.
Dorothy
was most proud of her collection of paintings by her great-grandmother, Ellen B. Farr. Family history was very important to her; she researched information about her ancestors and compiled it into books to pass down to her descendants. Besides her interests in gardening, crafts and genealogy,
Dorothy
was an avid Red Sox fan.
A graveside service will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield on January 5, 2009 at 1:00 p. m.
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield
