Dorothy Striplin

Dorothy J. Striplin, 80, a lifelong resident of Stoneham died on Monday, June 7 at the Hunt Nursing and Rehab Center in Danvers.

Born in Stoneham on November 5, 1929 she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Cook) Blauvelt.

Mrs. Striplin was a graduate of Stoneham High School. She was a retired nurse for the former New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham and the VNA of Stoneham.

Mrs. Striplin was a member of the First Congregational Church in Stoneham and enjoyed spending time at the Stoneham Senior Center.

She was the wife of the late James Striplin & Donald C. Hughes. She was the mother of Donald Hughes of FL, Linda Keating of Wilmington, Debra Olivolo of Georgetown and the late William & Carol Jean Hughes. She was the sister of Walter Blauvelt of Washinton D.C., and the late Lorraine Waite, Raymond Blauvelt, Mildred Diovoio & Jeanette Howard. She was the grandmother of Rebecca, Rachel, Kerri, Holly, Randy, Terri, Little Billy and his sister and great grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Ryan, Jamison, and Leo.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
