Dorothy Whateley

Dorothy R. Whateley, 97, a long time resident of Stoneham died on Thursday, February 28 at the Wingate at Reading.

Born in Boston on December 26, 1915 she was the mother of the late Alfred and Helen (Clark) Thomas.

Dorothy was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of the Dorchester Girls High School. She was retired from the H.P. Hood Co. and had also worked for the Gilchrist stores. Dorothy enjoyed cruising and was active in Girl Scouts.

She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Whateley. She was the mother of Patricia A. Burke of Ipswich, Janice LaRochelle of Danvers and Thomas J. Whateley of Wells, ME. She was the sister of Alfred Thomas of Hingham, William Thomas of CA and the late Robert Thomas, Helen Richards and Barbara Thomas. She was the grandmother of Matthew Burke and Jessica Frost and the great grandmother of Hanna Rose Frost.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relative and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham
