Dorothy Yamartino

Dorothy A. Yamartino, 90, of Wakefield died on Monday, July 28 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Boston on January 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Jamesina M. (Jance) Hartigan.

Mrs. Yamartino was a graduate of Practical Arts High School in Roxbury, Class of 1942. She was employed at Northeastern University before her marriage. She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Yamartino also enjoyed socializing with friends and family. She had been a Wakefield resident for the past 58 years and was an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ernest J. Yamartino, her five sons; Ernest J. Yamartino, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Rindge, NH, James K. Yamartino and his wife Diane of No. Conway, NH, William J. Yamartino and his wife Maureen of Abington, John E. Yamartino and his wife Maureen of Lynn and Robert C. Yamartino and his wife Kathryn of Middlefield, CT, her daughter Anne M. Sheahan and her husband Daniel of Windham, NH and her sister Marie Danca of Newton. Mrs. Yamartino is also survived by her 13 grandchildren; James K. Yamartino, Jr., David Yamartino, Kristine Peterson, Bethann Dacey , Sandra Hooper, Robert C. Yamartino, Jr., Phillip Yamartino, Kristine Yamartino, Michael Sheahan , Katelyn Yamartino, Julie Sheahan, Jillian Yamartino and Brian Sheahan and her 4 great grandchildren; Brady, Dylan and Marley Hooper and Ryan Dacey. She was predeceased by her three sisters; Marguerite Hartigan, Eleanor Hartigan and Eileen Ridgway and her two brothers; William J. Hartigan and Charles Hartigan.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
