Dorothy Young

Dorothy J. Young, 75, a lifelong resident of Wakefield died on Tuesday, April 6 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Melrose on August 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Loriston G. and Ella Mae (Loring) Stockwell.

Dorothy was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1952. She was a former hostess at the Hilltop Steakhouse and the owner of Creative Touches by Dorothy.

Dorothy was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield and also a member of the Wakefield Choral Society. She loved gardening and feeding the birds in her yard. She also enjoyed crafts. The most important part of her life was her family.

Dorothy was the wife of the late L. Murray Young. She was the mother of Wendy Carrier and her husband Ken, Laurie Riley and her husband John, Sherrie Ogden and her husband David, Vicki Martin, Faith Martin and Bud Pronski, and Lynne Sardella and her husband Louie. She was the grandmother of Daniel, Alicia, Peter and Matthew Carrier; John, Brett and Erin Riley; Ben and Jared Ogden; Madeleine and Danielle Parsons; Joshua and Michelle Clogston; Hannah and Gerry Donovan; Nicole and Michael Castiglione; Justin Sardella and Laura Galante; Samantha Piper, and the great-grandmother of Anthony, Tessa, and Aleena Castiglione; Christopher Sardella; Owen Piper; Ella Donovan and Lily Clogston.

A memorial service will be held in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
