Douglas Maher

Douglas J. Maher, 86, a life long Wakefield resident died on Thursday, December 19. Born in Wakefield on April 6, 1927 he was the son of the late John T. and Mildred F. (Robbins) Maher.

Mr. Maher was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1944 and had attended Boston College. He had retired as an arbitrator for Manufacturer's Industrial Relations Association. Mr. Maher had served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the Unites States Marine Corps Reserves.

He is survived by his wife Joyce L. (Whiting) Maher, his son Douglas J. Maher, Jr. and his wife Kay of Doerun, Georgia, his three daughters; Cynthia Ann Rendell and her husband Ken of Ormond Beach, FL, Nancy R. Cormier and her husband Glenn of Stoneham and Donna J. Lane and her husband Tom of Wilmington. Mr. Maher was the grandfather of Candace McNair, Meghan Tamburrini, Stephanie Penta, Jamie Randell, Lacey Maher, Hannah Cormier, Joseph Lane and the late Michael Rendell. He was the great grandfather of Gillian, Jacqueline and Mack McNair, Joseph and Emily Lane and Ava Tamburrini.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. 24, Beacon St., #546, Boston, MA 02133.
