Earle R . Fairfield , 83, of Wakefield died Sunday, December 27 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Wakefield on May 23, 1926 he was the son of the late Percy W. and Mildred (Slack) Fairfield .

Mr. Fairfield was a graduate of Wakefield high School. Class of 1945. He was a retired grounds keeper for the Wakefield School Department. Mr. Fairfield was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Church in North Reading and a member of the Keenagers at the church. He was also a past member of the Wakefield Auxiliary Police. Mr. Fairfield was a World War II and Korean War Navy Veteran.

Mr. Fairfield is survived by his wife Virginia (Eldredge) Fairfield , his four children; Clifford Fairfield and his wife Wanda of Derry, NH, Jeanne McEacherin and her husband Robert of Mulberry, FL, Allen Fairfield and Stephen Fairfield and his wife Janet all of Wakefield, his brother Arthur Fairfield of Wakefield and his sister Doris Saulnier of Wakefield. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren; Dustin and Catherine McEacherin, Suzanne Fairfield and Chris and Jamie Woods and his great granddaughter Gwen

A funeral service will be held in the Trinity Evangelical Church, 105 Haverhill St, North Reading on Wednesday at 10am. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
