Edith Anne Roy, 77, a longtime resident of Lynnfield, MA, passed away on September 4th.
Edith is survived by her husband Joseph “Jerry” Gerard Roy. She was the sister of Edward Potvin, Phillip Potvin and Sue Krasowski. She leaves behind her sons Greg Roy and his wife Marcea and Chris Roy and his wife Marcy; her daughters Jeanelle Taylor and Jennifer Connell and her husband Chuck; and her grandchildren, Brandon and Meg Haley, Justin Roy, Joseph Connell, William, Xavier and Genevieve Roy, and Avery Roy.
Edie was born July 26, 1946 in Salem, MA to the late Alphonse and Augustine Potvin. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1964 in Salem and went on to graduate from Salem State College in 1976. In 1965 she married Jerry and they created their beautiful life together with their family. She worked for 25 years at the John Hancock Life Insurance Company. She was a Vice President and manager of corporate retirement accounts.
Edie and Jerry had a wonderful and active life together skiing, golfing and traveling the world. They could often be found enjoying the sunshine down with Mickey Mouse in Florida. Edie always loved a good bargain!
Edith’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Agnes Parish, 22 Boston St. Middleton on Saturday, September 9 at 10:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, September 8 from 4-7pm. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
