Edward Murrin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward J. Murrin, 81, of Stoneham, MA. on Saturday, February 6th, 2021, surrounded by his family.

The fourth child in a large family of nine, he was born in South Boston to the late Edward and Bridget Murrin (née Walsh), in March of 1939. Growing up in Stoneham, he graduated from the local high school in 1957, where he was a varsity athlete, lettering in football and basketball. Following graduation, Ed married his high school sweetheart Barbara (née Brewer). The two would continue to make Stoneham their home, raising their four children. Ed was a member of the BAC Local 3 for 50 years.

In life, Ed was an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for deer hunting and bass fishing. Whether it was hiking, kayaking, or riding his ATV, he was most at home outside. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, both camping in Maine or in his trailer in Vermont. More than anything, however, Ed relished spending time with his family. As an amazing father and grandfather to eight, he especially cherished bringing everyone together for the holidays. His warmth, good humor, quick wit, and unconditional support will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

Ed is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara; his daughter Kim Parsons and husband Allan of Wenham, their children Erin and Shay; son Chris and wife Kristen of Haverhill, their children Andrew and wife Kate, Amanda and Emily; son Edward and wife Patty of Stoneham; son Shawn and wife Colette of Pepperell, their children Meghan, Brenna and Jack. Sisters Myra MacDonald; Anita Dorsey and husband Paul; Shirley Brown and husband John; brother Robert and wife Fran; brother-in-law Paul Brewer and wife Sandy. He is predeceased by sisters Theresa O'Brien, Kathleen Connolly, Gladys Emmons; brother Daniel Murrin; sister-in-law Jeanne Hamlin.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to St. Jude or a charity of your choice.
