Edward Henry Whalley Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2019.
Born in Salem, Mass, to the late Edward Henry and Beatrice (Reid) Whalley, Ed was a graduate of Saint John's Preparatory School and Merrimack College and a longtime resident of Lynnfield. Ed was a devoted family man and professional golfer, who enjoyed teaching, competing and serving the members at Charles River, Woodland and Meadow Brook.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Mary Rae (Keefe) Whalley; his four children Edward Whalley of Georgetown, Ellen Eckenrode and her husband James of Newton, Kenneth and his wife Beth of Topsfield and Elizabeth Mattes and her husband Jeffrey of Doylestown, PA. Edward is also survived by his seven amazing grandchildren Tiffany, Kate, Jackson, Henry, Lauren, Adam and Ava.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, August 15 from 4-7 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 16, 11am at Saint James Church in Salem. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
Memorial donations may be made in Edward's honor to the New England Professional Golfer's Association (NEPGA) Foundation, 81C Shrewsbury Street, P.O.Box 743 Boylston, MA 01505.
