Eleanor R . McCarthy , 93 of Venice, Florida formerly of Somerville, Stoneham and Hampton, New Hampshire, died on Monday, May 6 in Melrose.

Born in Somerville on October 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Irving H. and Catherine (Riley) Mallett.

Mrs. McCarthy was a graduate of Boston City Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was a participant in the World War II Nursing Cadet Program at Boston City Hospital. Mrs. McCarthy loved and enjoyed the time spent with her family. She took pleasure in reading, shuffleboard and spending time at the ocean.

Mrs. McCarthy was the beloved wife of the late Paul K. McCarthy , Sr. She is survived by her loving children: Mary Ann Doherty and her husband William Bonia, Beth Callahan, Paul K. McCarthy , Jr., Susan Merritt and her husband Dexter, Richard McCarthy and his wife Karen, Theresa Pieri and her late husband Siro, Karen O'Regan and her late husband William and Patricia Webster and her husband William. Mrs. McCarthy is also survived by her 17 grandchildren and her 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her six sisters; Dorothy Painter, Rita Hazard, Lillian Wardell, Mary McKay, Estella Uva and Jeannie Cassel and her two brothers; Leonard Mallett and Phillip Mallett.

A private funeral service and burial took place on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, Stoneham.
