Eleanor Schott

Eleanor Schott, age 88, died peacefully on October 12, 2013 at Daniel´s Nursing Home in Reading, after a long illness.

She was the only child of Charles and Mary Tehle and the wife of the late Henry Schott, who predeceased her in 1975. Mother of Nancy Benjamin and her husband Roy of Reading, John Schott and his wife Mary Lee of Norwalk, CT, and Henry Schott, Jr. and his wife Christine of Brooklyn, NY, she was also a loving and devoted grandmother to Nicole, Michelle, Jimmy, and Emily Benjamin and Jason, Johnny, and Chelsea Schott. She also leaves behind her dear friend of 65 years, Rachel Bagley.

Eleanor was born in Wellsville, NY and graduated from Cornell University in 1945. Prior to marrying in 1950, she worked as a teacher and then as a home economist for A. Wayne Merriam, Inc., of Albany, New York. Eleanor was an accomplished musician who, in mid-life, resumed taking piano lessons and played in a duo-piano performing group. She had a passion for travel, concerts, museums, bridge, genealogy, jigsaw puzzles, and Doug Flutie. Even as her health and memory declined, her sense of humor and love of family remained intact.
