Eleanor A. (Matson) Teschek, age 100, of Stoneham and Haverhill, MA, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill, MA. Ellie was born on November 30, 1924 in Woburn, MA, to Edward and Wilhelmina Matson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald H. Teschek. She is survived by her loving daughters Karen Murphy of Haverhill, MA, Janet Fredrickson and her husband Buzz of Inverness, Florida, and Joyce Bourdon and her husband John of Henniker, NH. She was also a loving grandmother to Peter Murphy, Brian Murphy and his wife Susanne, Lauren Jurta, Sheryl Grant and her husband Paul, Debra Morgan and her partner Chris Scenna, and Greg Bourdon and his wife Christine. She was a beloved great grandmother to Hannah Murphy, Libby Murphy, Ailyn Jurta and James Jurta. She is survived by her sister Joan Tenney of Woburn, MA, and her sister-in-law, Phyllis of Tewksbury, MA. She was preceded in death by her sisters Vivian Leith, Mildred Chamberlain, and Lillian Vass, and her brothers Raymond Matson, Edward Matson, Walter Delvental, and Lewis Delvental who also passed away the morning of April 24. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ellie was a long-time member of the 1st Congregational Church of Stoneham, and served as both a Sunday School teacher and a Deaconess. She was also an Assistant Brownie Leader. Ellie loved working with people. She formerly worked for many years at Star Market in Stoneham and Wakefield, MA. In her later years, she worked for MassBank for Savings in Stoneham. She enjoyed spending time with family at our lake cottage in New Hampshire, and loved dancing, playing cards and games, and doing crossword puzzles. She never peeked at the answers! She will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at The First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Stoneham, MA on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham, MA prior to the service beginning at 9am. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery, 57 Montvale Avenue, Stoneham, MA, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Congregational Church of Stoneham would be appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for their loving support these past four years.
