Elizabeth Matchett

Elizabeth M. Matchett, 93, of Swampscott, formerly of Stoneham died on Friday February 5, 2010 at the Lafayette in Marblehead.

Born in Boston on January 25, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Cullinane) Hubbard.

Mrs. Matchett was raised in the Back Bay and was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston. She also graduated from Secretarial School in Boston. She was a retired secretary from Tufts University.

Mrs. Matchett moved to Stoneham in 1954 where she was a member of St. Patrick Church and was also active at the Stoneham Senior Center.

Mrs. Matchett was the wife of the late James W. Matchett. She was the mother of James W. Jr. and his wife June of Larksbur, CO, Stephen Matchett of Cambridge, Mary Ellen McGee and her husband William of Harwich, and Philip Matchett and his wife Janet of Swampscott. She was the sister of the late Helen Sinclair, John Hubbard, Catherine Deloffi, and Edward Hubbard. Mrs. Matchett is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
