Elizabeth McManus

Elizabeth A. McManus "Betty" of Sandown, NH and Stuart, FL formally of Melrose, MA and Hyde Park, MA passed away on Friday, June 15 surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle.

Born the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Heron Sousa, Betty met and married Edward T. McManus "Buddy" a now retired Boston Police Officer and retired employee of Freeman Decorating Co. They raised eight children together.

She was a loving mother and Nana to: Debra and David Babbitt of Barnstable MA, Donna, Ashley and Wesley Saunders of North Reading MA, Eddie, Judy, Eddie, James and Jake McManus of Squantum MA. Paul McManus of North Reading MA. Glen McManus of Melrose MA. Karen McManus of Sandown NH. Shaun McManus of Melrose. Stacey McManus and her two sons Eric and Zachary of Melrose MA. Also her loyal pet Sir Stuart Bailey.

Survived by her sisters Rita Donovan of Sandwich MA, Noreen Selinger of Peabody MA, Doris Fitzmaurice of Woburn MA, and Virginia Healey of North Carolina. Also survived by her sister-in-law Irene Sousa of Maine and her brother-in-law Thomas Whalen of Hyde Park MA and many extended family and friends.

Visitors are welcome to say goodbye to Betty at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue Wakefield, MA on Wednesday, June 20th 4-8pm. A funeral will be held from the funeral home Thursday, June 21st at 9 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. funeral mass at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St. in Wakefield, MA. Burial will be private.
