Elizabeth Sparkes

Elizabeth Anne Sparkes, of Dorchester, MA, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2016, surrounded by her loved ones. Elizabeth was born August 27, 1980, in Hartford, Connecticut, and grew up in West Hartford, CT. She was a graduate of Conard High School, West Hartford, Colby College, Waterville, ME, and received a Masters Degree in Special Education from Simmons College. She taught Special Ed at The Landmark School in Beverly, MA, and later mathematics in public schools. She was most recently employed at Petsmart as a dog trainer, and was loved by dogs and owners alike. Liz enjoyed all Boston sports, especially the New England Patriots. Several years ago, she adopted Smokey, a rescue greyhound, becoming an active member of Greyhound Options rescue. Through this, she made friends who supported, cared about her and were a source of strength and humor. They are a close knit group of people who will greatly miss her energy, humor, and dedication. Liz is survived by her mother, Pamela Sparkes, of Chesapeake, VA, brother, Andrew Sparkes, of San Francisco, CA, and aunts and uncles, Penny and Tom Burns, of Hull, MA, Bob and Barbara Sparkes, of Billerica, MA, and several cousins. The family wishes to express gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and facilities who cared for Liz with such skill, compassion, and kindness. You all made a difficult time much more bearable for her and us. We love you, Liz, and will always miss your spirit, humor, and beautiful smile.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 11am-1pm. A Graveside Service will follow at Willow Cemetery, Summer St., Lynnfield.
