Elmer M. "Ellie" Hensiek of Boscawen, NH and a former resident of Woburn for 62 years died in Concord, NH on Friday November 11 at age 94. He was born in Chicago, IL on November 5, 1922 and was the son of the late Henry and Anna (Wagner) Hensiek. Ellie was raised and educated in Chicago and was later a graduate of Northeastern University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a W.W. II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 and was a retired Safety Engineer from Kemper Insurance Company after 40 years of service. Ellie was also an active member of the City of Woburn and served on the Woburn Housing Authority during the Shaughnessey Administration, was a founding member of the Woburn Boys and Girls Club and was a Social Member of the Woburn Country Club. He was a talented musician and Big Band member and played the banjo, piano, ukulele, xylophone and harmonica. He was also a skilled woodcarver, talented skater and he loved to dance.
Ellie was the beloved husband of the late Rosalind A. (MacDonald) with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Louise A. Dempsey and her partner Vincent Conway of Maynard, Carol J. Hensiek and her partner John Nugent of Manchester, NH, Elaine M. Lamond and her husband Brian of Franklin, NH Thomas G. Hensiek and his wife Amy of Hampstead, NH and the late James A. and Joseph Hensiek. He was the father in-law of Annie L. Hallmark of MS. He was the brother of the late George and Arthur Hensiek. He was the grandfather of Jeffrey and Matthew Hensiek and Shannon Herrin all of Mississippi, Alex and Adam Lamond and Sarah and Renee Hensiek all of New Hampshire. He was the great grandfather of Elizabeth "Ellie-Roz" Hensiek and Gabrielle "Gabby" Hensiek, Brandon Steelman, Mallorie Herrin and Kaytlin "Kaydee" Hensiek all of MS and the great-great grandfather of Mia.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Borromeo Church 280 Main St. Woburn at 10:00. Interment will be at Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home Wednesday 4-8pm.
