Esther Hanlon

Esther T. Hanlon, 81, of Stoneham died on Wednesday, December 9 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Medford on October 20, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Michael and Daisy (Stevens) McHale.

Mrs. Hanlon was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1946 and the Chandler School for Women in Boston. She had been a Stoneham resident for the past 50 years. Mrs. Hanlon was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Stoneham. She was a teacher's aid in the Stoneham School System, a volunteer at Winchester Hospital and was editorial assistant for Butterworth Publishing.

Mrs. Hanlon was the wife of the late William P. Hanlon. She is survived by her three daughters; Marie DiMare and husband Richard of Marblehead, Diane Andersen and husband Roger of N. Andover and Janet Corkum and husband John of Concord, NH, her brother James McHale of Hartford, CT., her seven grandchildren; Elizabeth, Jennifer, Katherine, Kerri, Michael, James and Jessica. Mrs. Hanlon is also survived by 4 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three brothers; Harry McHale, Michael McHale and John McHale and her sister Marie McCarthy.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St. Stoneham on Saturday at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 9 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
