Eugene R. Carrubba, 79, of Marlborough and formerly of Wayland and Wakefield died April 21 in Concord, MA. Mr. Carrubba was born in Melrose on December 26, 1934. He was the son of the late Sebastian and Concetta (Calderaro) Carrubba.
Eugene was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1952. He later earned a degree in Management from Boston University and a degree in Electronics from Northeastern University and later served for two years in the United States Army. During his career he had worked for GTE, Digital Equipment, Symbolics and retired from Motorola in 1995 as Director of Quality for the Information Systems Group. Eugene was the co-author of three books on Quality and consumer total customer satisfaction and author and presenter of over 40 articles and talks on Quality. He was a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Society of Quality (ASQ). He served four years as member of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award Board of Examiners, one year on the Board of Examiners for the Massachusetts Quality Award and three years on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Council for Quality. Eugene loved reading and traveling, enjoyed jazz music and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy I. (Anderson) Carrubba. He is also survived by many cousins, a brother in-law, two sisters-in-law, two nieces, two nephews, two great nephews, three great nieces and a godchild .
His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Saturday at 12 noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10 am. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Eugene's name may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
