Eugene Mathias Joly , M.D., 88, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Wakefield, MA died September 11, at the Stewart Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL.
Born in Manville, RI on December 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Eugene N. and Helen E. (Thibault) Joly . He was the brother of Jeannette E. Strunz of FL (deceased), and Paul J. Joly (deceased) and wife Gabrielle of CA.
Eugene
was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1951 and Georgetown University School of Medicine, Class of 1955. He was an Orthopedic Surgeon for more than 30 years, first in the U.S. Navy and then in private practice in Lynn, MA.
Eugene
retired from the U.S. Navy in 1965 as LT CDR MC. He was a proud member of the USS General W.A. Mann Association and enjoyed attending numerous reunions. He was a member of the Palm Coast Duplicate Bridge Club, was an avid golfer and loved handicapping thoroughbred horses.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, MA at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Private interment, St. James Cemetery, Manville, RI.
