Eva Fichera, age 92 passed away at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield on Monday, October 24 after a period of declining health. With her husband of 48 years, the late Americo "Jack" Fichera, she owned and operated Jack's Bakery on Chestnut Street in Wakefield. In 1962 when he pursued a teaching career, Eva managed the dress department at Parke Snows and Klines Department store in Wakefield until her retirement.
Eva was a longtime member of Club International , the Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society, Essex County Needlecraft Guild, and Messiah Lutheran Church of Lynnfield. In addition to her award winning needlework, she enjoyed gardening and time with family and friends.
One of six children of Johannes and Susanne Kodres, Eva was born in Estonia. She immigrated to the United States after living three years in Germany, where she met and married her husband. She will be missed by her daughter and son in-law, Linda and Robert Skory of Topsfield, Granddaughter Julia Skory of Wakefield, grandson and his wife Steven and Lori Skory of Peabody, her great grandchildren Brianna and Andrew Skory and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday beginning at 9am followed by a Funeral Service in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 708 lowell St., Lynnfield at 11:00. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
