Evelyn Powers

Evelyn V. Powers, age 90, of Dover, NH formerly of Stoneham, MA and Salem, NH died Sunday, March 5 at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH.

Born in Boston, MA on June 22, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cecelia (Greatrix) Gott.

Mrs. Powers was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School, Class of 1944. She then married her high school sweetheart, Thomas D. Powers, in 1946, sharing 54 years of marriage together. They went on to raise their family in Stoneham. During which time, she had worked at the Marshall's Distribution Center in Woburn for many years and had worked at the Salem, NH Public School System. Mrs. Powers enjoyed her summers in Salem, NH, later choosing to retire in Salem where she remained for 30 years. Above all things, she loved spending time with her family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas D. Powers. She was the mother of Donna M. McDowell and her husband Bob of Clifton, VA, Lorraine Rao and Betsey Powers-Sinclair, both of Dover, NH. She was the sister of the late Arthur W. Gott and Mary Vaudreuil. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Kyle McDowell, Katie Marsico, Matthew Rao, Lyndsie Lewis, Tyler & Emily Sinclair, as well as 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass celebrated in Incarnation Catholic Church, 429 Upham St., Melrose on Friday at 11am. Interment to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham. Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham prior to the mass beginning at 9am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverside Rest Home, c/o Unit 5, 276 County Farm Rd, Dover, NH 03820 to the charity of one's choice.
