Everett Kischer

Everett Kischer , 94, of E. Dennis and Lynnfield, died Wednesday, July 6 at Epoch Senior Healthcare Nursing Home in Brewster.

Everett Walter William Kischer , son of Walter and Florence (Swanberg) Kischer was born in Albert City, Iowa on March 1, 1917. Everett had one sister, June, who passed away this year on February 26, 2011 at age 90. Everett went to Albert City High School where he was elected All Conference and All State at both football and basketball and also played baseball on the Albert City Town team with his father Walter. Walter played first base and Everett played second. Everett was valedictorian of his class and graduated from Albert City High School in 1935.

Everett attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa after High School and was an outstanding athlete for Iowa State University. He was the quarterback of the 1936, 37, and 38 football teams. The 1938 football team was the first team in Iowa State school history that received a National Ranking in the AP poll. Iowa State finished 7-1-1 and was within one win of going to the Orange Bowl.

Everett was chosen, a unanimous selection, to the AP All Big Six team. He was also selected to the Chicago Tribune College All Star Team and the Newspaper Enterprises Association selected him to their third team All Star team.

In 1939, he was chosen by the Chicago Bears in the NFL draft but instead he chose to start his working career with General Electric Company in Lynn after graduating from Iowa State University.

While working for General Electric Company in Lynn he met and married Eleanor Marie Peterson of Lynn who also was working for General Electric Company at the time. He married Eleanor Peterson in Albert City Iowa in June of 1944. Everett and Eleanor had one son, Scott who lives in Wheaton, Illinois with his wife Bonnie.

Everett also was a B-29 Flight Engineer during World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force during the war. After the war was over Everett and Eleanor moved to Lynnfield where Everett worked for over 40 years. He retired from General Electric in 1985.

Eleanor Kischer died on October 28, 1978 after having been married to Everett for 34 years. Everett remarried in October, 1980 to Anne Currie from St. Stephens, Canada and also Swampscott.

Everett was elected to the Iowa State University Football Hall of Fame in September of 2001.

Everett is survived by his second wife, Anne Kischer , son Scott Everett Kischer , Grandsons, Michael Scott Kischer and Matthew John Kischer , his great grandson, Aiden Michael Kischer and his great granddaughter, Madeline Grace Kischer .

Those who will remember Everett with love and fondness are his wife and son, grandsons and their spouses, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces : Anne Kischer of Epoch S.H. of Brewster, MA, Scott and Bonnie Kischer of Wheaton, Illinois, Michael and Samantha Kischer of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Aiden and Madeline Kischer of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Matthew Kischer of New York City, N.Y., Jon and Kelley Thieman of Edgewood, Washington, Kent and Shelly Thieman of West Des Moines, Iowa, Wade and Kay Little of Hudson, Colorado along with other relatives and friends.

Everett's funeral will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 703 Lowell St., Lynnfield on Saturday at 11am. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4 to 6pm. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
