Fay was born and raised in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1950. She then attended Boston University beginning a lifelong support of the Terrier hockey program.
A season ticket holder for decades, Fay and her late husband Mitch seldom missed a pregame meal at the Mount Vernon or a Terrier tilt dating back to the early 1960's. She also followed the team on the road and attended many "Frozen Fours" including the Terriers most recent National Championship in Washington, DC, in 2009.
Fay loved to shop. If there was a shopping Hall of Fame she would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer.
She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, first in the 1950's at the Suffolk County Court House before her marriage in 1959 and later from the early eighties to her retirement in 1998, at the Department of Employment Security. Nothing gave her greater satisfaction than helping people get a job.
Fay was a loving daughter, aunt, sister, wife, and mother. Forever selfless her concern was always for the comfort and well-being of her family and friends.
From Bobby Doerr, her uncle's neighbor in Newton to Mookie Betts, Fay loved the Boston Red Sox.
She reveled in the success of the new millennium and celebrated their most recent triumph with her family. She will be missed by all that loved her.
Along with her husband, Fay is surived by her son Bernie M. Corbett and Barry "Mitchelll" Corbett both of Stoneham. She was the sister of Elizabeth M. Cleary of Billerica, Paul R. Constantino of Brookline, and the late George E. Constantino and Carolyn B. Meybaum. Fay is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
