Francis V. Fitzgerald, 87, of Wakefield died on Sunday, September 18 at his residence.

Born in Boston on August 15, 1924 he was the son of the late Francis J. and Yolanda (Leone) Fitzgerald.

Mr. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Brooklyn Catholic School in New York. He was a retired painter for Johnson & Foster in Somerville and the Harvard Coop. Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of the Rainbo Fish and Game in Gilmanton, NH. He was a World War II Marine Veteran.

Mr. Fitzgerald was the husband of the late Theresa V. (Brown) Fitzgerald. He was the father of Francis X. and his wife Deborah of Wakefield, Dianne T. Gibbons of Wakefield, and the late Veronica Vidoli Fitzgerald. He was the brother of the late John A. Fitzgerald, Eileen Fitzgerald, and Louise Cunniff. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 oa�(TM)clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
