Francis Leo Kane Jr., of Bartlett, NH died Wednesday January 29 surrounded by family at home. Born in Charleston, MA on July 19, 1947 he was the son of the late Francis and Martha (Hagerty) Kane.
Frank was raised in Charleston and graduated from Boston English High School in 1965. He joined the United States Army not long after high school. Frank was part of the 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, 3rd Ranger Infantry Company, and served in Vietnam. He had gone to work at The First National in Everett, Piantedosi’s in Malden, and US Postal Service in Boston, which he retired from in 2009.
After meeting Linda through friends, the two married in 1972, starting a family in Everett before settling into the family home on Cordis St. in Wakefield. Frank enjoyed coaching youth baseball. He remembered all his players and all the games in great detail. Frank loved watching sports on TV. He was an avid Red Sox fan his whole life. Frank enjoyed history, reading books, and keeping up with the news. He also looked forward to time spent with family and friends. You could often find him with his wife, family, and friends at The Dockside in Wakefield, where he would be drinking a Bud draft. This past spring Frank moved with his daughter and her family to the White Mountains. There he loved family time and the beautiful mountain views.
He is predeceased by his wife, Linda Kane. Frank is survived by his son, Michael Kane and wife Diana, of Liverpool, NY, his daughter Jennifer Morris and her husband, Bill, of Bartlett, NH, his brother in-law, Robert Kirby of Melrose, his grandchildren Hannah and Colin Morris and Brenna Kane, as well as his good friend Ed McCormack.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Lazarus Center for Healing Shrine/St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Monday, February 3 at 11:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the mass at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield form 9-11am. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
