Francis O'Hare

Francis J. "Red" O'Hare, 89, of Wakefield died on Saturday, February 20, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.

Born in West Roxbury on June 2, 1920 he was the son of the late James J. and Mary (Motherway) O'Hare.

Red lived in Rockland and Chelsea until moving to Wakefield in 1956. He retired from Sears Roebuck after many years of service. Red was a member of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus #104 and the Wakefield Elks #1276. He enjoyed playing the piano, horseshoes and spending time with his family.

Mr. O'Hare was the beloved husband of the late Lucy M. (Lanzo) O'Hare with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He was the father of Francis J. O'Hare, Jr. and his wife Donna of Melrose, James J. O'Hare and his wife Gayle of Wakefield and the late Mary Sowyrda and Michael "Mickey" O'Hare. He was the devoted grandfather of Kristen M. Farrell and her husband Jim of Newburyport, Kevin F. O'Hare and his fiancee Diana Lopez of Wakefield and Bryan Walker of Lynn. He was the brother of Mary Ryan of Marshfield and Joseph O'Hare of Florida and the late Patrick O'Hare, Margaret O'Brien and Grace Corrigan. He was the father-in-law of Dennis Sowyrda of Wakefield and Robin O'Hare of North Reading.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
