Francis Barry

Francis S (Frank) Barry , 84, a longtime resident of Wakefield, died peacefully in his sleep on December 15 at Daniel's Nursing Home in Reading.

Frank was in the US Navy for 42 years (4 years of duty, followed by 38 years of active reserve) and worked as a first class machinist. He also worked for Percission Metal Products in Peabody. Frank enjoyed calling bingo at St. Florence Church and bowling on the Wakefield Businessmen's league.

Frank is survived by his wife, Eleanor Marie (Hamel) Barry , of 62 years. He was the beloved father of Susan L. Mitchell, Stephen S . Barry and his wife Janice, Lynn M. Herron (deceased), and Glenn S . Barry . He was grandfather to Jeffrey T. Mitchell, Jason T. Mitchell, Christopher S . Barry , Ryan S . Barry , Tyler A. Barry and great-grandfather to Hayley S . Mitchell, Jordan C. Mitchell, Jason J. Mitchell, and Cole N. Mitchell. He was preceded in death by brother George Barry and sister Helen Arthas.

A visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave in Wakefield on Sunday, December 19th from 1-5PM. A brief funeral service will be held at McDonald Funeral Home the following morning at 11:00AM. A private interment will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery at a later date.
