Francis V . Fitzgerald , 87, of Wakefield died on Sunday, September 18 at his residence.

Born in Boston on August 15, 1924 he was the son of the late Francis J. and Yolanda (Leone) Fitzgerald .

Mr. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Brooklyn Catholic School in New York. He was a retired painter for Johnson & Foster in Somerville and the Harvard Coop. Mr. Fitzgerald was a member of the Rainbo Fish and Game in Gilmanton, NH. He was a World War II Marine Veteran.

Mr. Fitzgerald was the husband of the late Theresa V . (Brown) Fitzgerald . He was the father of Francis X. and his wife Deborah of Wakefield, Dianne T. Gibbons of Wakefield, and the late Veronica Vidoli Fitzgerald . He was the brother of the late John A. Fitzgerald , Eileen Fitzgerald , and Louise Cunniff. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 oa'(TM)clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
