Frank J. Barletta, 60, of Lynnfield, formerly of East Boston, died on Thursday, June 4 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Born in Winthrop on July 22, 1948, he was the son of Evelyn (Pisano) Barletta of East Boston and the late Jerry Barletta.
Mr. Barletta was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of Charlestown High School, Class of 1966. He also attended Salem State College. He was a resident of Lynnfield for 22 years and was the former owner of the Locker Room Sporting Goods in East Boston. Most recently, he was the manager of Dynamic Sports of Reading. Mr. Barletta also ran the Boston Bruins Pro Shop during the 70's.
Mr. Barletta was a former youth hockey coach for the East Boston and Lynnfield Youth Hockey Programs.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife Bernice (Trentini) Barletta, his two sons, Ryan A. and Dana A. Barletta, both of Lynnfield, his stepson Kevin G. Sorgi of Milton, his sister Lorraine Schettino and her husband Vincent of East Boston, and his grandson Vedder A. Sorgi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barletta was predeceased by his brother Jay Barletta.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Corner of Salem and Grove, Lynnfield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
